Dolly & Tripod Problem
 

I can not make bogen 3182 tripod work with bogen 3067 dolly because of the spike feet. The feet are too big to fit in the rings. What dolly works with the 3182 tripod? Or is there a way to make this tripod and dolly work?

There is a version available for spiked feet (the little foot "recepticals" can be taken off and changed.)

Does this mean that the spike feet can be removed from the tripod ?

Bogen used to have a kit that fit the 3067 tripod. You removed the channels (or leg locks or whatever you wished to call them) and replaced them with a piece that the spiked feet fit into. Bogen no longer makes that piece.
I use a 3067 with 515 legs (also spiked feet) and got a set of floor proctectors from B&H which the spiked feet fit into and are normally used with a center spreader. Since I use a floor spreader, I simply removed the leg channels from the dolly and drilled a hole thru the floor protector and the dolly outrigger-I used a nut and bolt-tightened it down (I made sure I had clearance for the end cap/wheel bolts) and it's off to the races. In over a year of using this system, it has worked perfectly and allows me to switch back to the leg channels to use my 3246 tripod if necessary. The set is actually called Rubber Shoes-the number is 565 and they are 19.95
Drill and bolt at your own risk! Measure it out carefully to make sure nothing get in the way.

Right now I am using thick rubber bands to connect the tripod to the dolly.

After this event I don't know where I will take this problem or if I will just leave it as is. My biggest dislike with all the Bogen Dollies is the way the wheels swing around when entering a new direction. There has to be a better way than swinging wheels. Ball wheels could be the answer.

The 3067 dolly is their heavy duty dolly and is the only one they make with wheels larger than 3 inch. For the smaller dollies (which work very well with just about any camera except a fullsize due to the weight which means a heavier duty tripod which means a heavier duty dolly and on and on) As I was saying with the smaller dolllys using the smaller wheel I could see where it might be possible to use a "furniture" type wheel which would seem to roll smoother when changing directions. I can honestly say that I've had very little trouble changing direction when moving and close to none when going from a standing stop. Just goota play and figure which way its going to go before you go but your point is very valid and I too wish there was a better way.
