That's cuz you're a softie... :)

I looked it up, D...you announced the theme for the first DV Challenge on April 7, 2005. Can you believe we've been doing this for 4 years???

Bruce Broussard March 22nd, 2009 05:43 PM

I'm in.

"I wont fail this time, I wont fail this time, I wont fail this time..."

Stan Harkleroad March 23rd, 2009 07:36 AM

do I have to sign up now or can I decide if I want to when the theme is listed?

Lorinda Norton March 23rd, 2009 08:55 AM

Be brave and sign up now! :)

Dylan used to close sign-ups the day the theme was posted but for quite some time he's left it open. Personally, I think you cheat yourself out of part of the fun if you wait to see the theme.

You should look back and see some of the groans and complaining that went on the time we found out the theme was "The Sun;" yet, some pretty great films came out of it.

To answer your question, it's up to Dylan. ;)

Shaun Roemich March 23rd, 2009 09:33 AM

Ok, I'm jonesing to do something creative without having to get client approval. I'm in!

Mark Hartopp March 23rd, 2009 11:28 AM

Yep! I got some spare time - count me in.

Cool.

Been a few times I wished I had known the theme before "signing up"...

...But then it wouldn't have been as much a challenge, would it.

I've seen the day I stepped in front of the camera myself, running it with a remote, the day before submission deadline to get something in out of spite.

Turned out not too bad, and I still had fun with it.

Jump in, may be just what the doctor ordered.

Chris Barcellos March 23rd, 2009 05:08 PM

So you sign up, and if theme doesn't work for you, you make a film anyway, and squeeze the theme in somehow. Then everyone says, "Wow, what a wonderful film... beautiful cinematography, great actors, or cute story". Then someon says, "Dude, not sure if I see the theme connection". But you still made a film...

Hey, Chris! Don't give away our secrets!

Mugurel Dragusin March 24th, 2009 04:18 AM

I am in, what the heck.

Stan Harkleroad March 24th, 2009 07:47 AM

What the heck. I'll give it a try. Bruce, maybe we can brainstorm together.

Clint Harmon March 24th, 2009 09:28 AM

I will make a showing on this contest. Even though I said I would for the charity challenge, time constraints held me back for that one. I am setting time aside just for this.

Kell Smith March 24th, 2009 12:08 PM

I'm in =)

He needs to close it once the theme is announced, because I'm holding off on UWOL sign-ups until it's DVC closes, and he is hogging most of March - he can't have April, too!

Cage match, cage match...

Yay, Josh! If my counting is right (one from the 5D2 sub-challenge) your sign-up makes 50.

Just might be a record for the DVC! (?)

Jay Silver March 31st, 2009 12:07 PM

Sorry to bust up the nice round number but I'm keen to pull off my first back-to-back DVC participation - especially with a whole month to craft an entry!

Count me in too.

Sub Challenge?

Chris Barcellos April 1st, 2009 10:02 AM

Josh, just a little friendly thing started when I mentioned I would be warming my Canon 5D Mark II up. Dylan, who also shoot the 5D, suggested a subchallenge. No extra prize or anything, just a friendly little competition among users of the new rigs..

Josh Chesarek April 1st, 2009 10:04 AM

ah, I got ya, Probably would help if I read the rest of the sign up sheet.

Roger Wilson April 1st, 2009 09:26 PM

Just found out that I'm not travelling for the foreseeable future, so count me in.

Andrew Hood April 2nd, 2009 12:00 AM

It is April 2nd at 9am PST when the theme was supposed to be announced (except I announced it a day early).

Bruno Demeocq April 4th, 2009 04:13 PM

Hi From Dakar

Son, can i still compete ? And what the theme ???

Thanks

Bruno

Lorinda Norton April 4th, 2009 04:25 PM

Hi Bruno,

The standing rule around here has always been that until the sign up gets closed (the thread locked) you can still sign up. So come on in. We like a big party.

Check out the thread with the theme announcement so you know all the particulars. And then have fun shooting! :)

EDIT: We are closing the doors tomorrow (Monday) so if anyone else wants in, now's the time!

Lorinda Norton April 6th, 2009 03:41 PM

Sign-up is closed. If you missed out on this one and want to shoot something, Meryem says there’s going to be another UWOL contest starting pretty soon. (Look one floor below this place for the UWOL Challenge if you don’t know.) Join in on the fun there if you can!
