Hi Lorinda,

Is there a way to know that the challenge "officials" have received the finished submission and the link that we send via the e-mail address specified?

Thanks,
Alan

Trailer to a trailer...

I had a host of problems of my own it seems, no point in 'bragg' about it, perhaps I shall do a trailer to a trailer :P lol...anyway...RIP 1TB drive :) will get it replaced but you know, the data won't...excited to see your entries though :)

Craig Bellaire October 10th, 2009 07:54 AM

WOW almost there...

Bruce download Edius NEO trial or Vegas 9 trial... I believe they should work with your files....

Come on Lorinda you can do it, yes you can................

Is Tran in this... Maybe we'll have a chance if he gets stuck out of country...

As for me... Done... 720P single core dell... 8^)
Panasonic ZS3, Sony hi-8 and another 80.00 camera...

I like it, let's see if you do.... Best of Luck.....

Lorinda Norton October 10th, 2009 09:53 AM

That really stinks, Mugurel. I was looking forward to your trailer! Can you come up with something ultra-short like what you've done in the past?

Thanks for the encouragement, Craig. If I didn't have so many setups I wouldn't be concerned.

Alan, I will try to send email confirmation, but when I get in the thick of my own editing it might not be the priority! :)

Challenge

I'm checking up my sleeve...the thing is I'm wearing a t-shirt only :P Will try something worth competing with. Thanks for the encouragements Lorinda!

In fact, now it became an actual challenge :)

Lorinda Norton October 11th, 2009 02:34 AM

Finished shooting about 15 minutes ago. I am soooo cold, and tired, and sore. But we had a blast (literally, there at the end) and everyone did a great job.

Now comes the part I always dread: capturing footage while hoping like heck we got everything. :)

Robert Martens October 11th, 2009 06:05 AM

I may jinx my plan by saying anything, but I can't resist. The movie I was working on wasn't going to happen, so I had pretty much given up, as usual. After being up all night, however, inspiration struck, and I've figured out how to rework an idea I had a while back for a short film.

I'm off to shower, shave, get into wardrobe, haul some set dressing around and carry out what amounts to my first twenty-four hour challenge. Don't get your hopes up for a stroke of last-minute genius, but I should be able to turn something in by the deadline. Here's hoping I can stay awake all day.

Andris Krastins October 11th, 2009 11:27 AM

only now starting editing (8.30pm)... hope I can make it

Chris Barcellos October 11th, 2009 12:00 PM

Posted mine last night.

Andris Krastins October 11th, 2009 04:30 PM

Submitted just now! Lorinda, please be so kind and confirm if you've received my e-mail. Thanks!

Craig Yates October 11th, 2009 06:15 PM

Well, I'm finally done! Still very disappointed with the audio, but I guess time constraints are something we all have to deal with.

Jeremy Doyle October 11th, 2009 09:31 PM

Done and uploaded. Now it's time to get to work on the subchallenge.

Mike Horrigan October 11th, 2009 10:26 PM

Ended up going with a full short film. I'll post a link here on Halloween though.
It's all shot, just editing now. Also moving this week so I'm pretty busy.

Good luck to those who entered!

Mike

Finished...yay

Its uploading now. I'm tired.

Same here! Still have to shoot a few scenes though.

Lorinda Norton October 12th, 2009 12:47 AM

Whew! I'd like to have tweaked a little more but wanted to get mine uploaded. Fifteen minutes to spare!

If anyone is having trouble and needs to beg for more time ;) shoot me an email. So far YouTube is really speedy tonight, though, so you should be okay if you upload there.

Andris Krastins October 12th, 2009 01:18 AM

I would have loved to tweak it a bit more too, but it's too late for that now. :]
My pc monitors at home are quite bright. Now checking the trailer at work, and in some places it's too dark.
But at least I know it now, before I've begun to edit together the short.

Lorinda Norton October 12th, 2009 01:29 AM

I just noticed the same thing on mine, and I know better, yet it seems like they get darker every time. So I just uploaded to Vimeo in hopes that some of the scenes won't be ruined like they are on YouTube.

My editing monitor is calibrated, or so I thought, but it does seem lots brighter than others.

Exactly the same here! I'll re-render it again a bit brighter and upload it to Vimeo, but not as a DVC17 entry.

Daniel Bates October 12th, 2009 06:55 AM

So the judging begins soon, right? I want to see the other videos already!

Jeez, I'm an impatient one, aren't I?

Craig Bellaire October 12th, 2009 07:25 AM

Daniel

I believe Iraq is a 4 day delay from the USA time... truth be told you had 4 extra days to finish...

OK Not really... I would love to see these as well and see how mine stacks up against everyone else.

As of NOW no wall of shame for me... 3 times maybe a winner...

Mario Vermunt October 13th, 2009 10:48 AM

NOOO, this can't be the deadline already. I haven't even started yet. Working on three corporate video's at the moment so a huge lack of time. I really thought I had until October 22. I hope this will not disqualify me for the next challenge.

Lorinda Norton October 13th, 2009 11:09 AM

Good thing you hadn't started yet! :)

We'll have another challenge in a couple months or so--maybe in December. Watch for it and try again, Mario!

Marc Burleigh October 16th, 2009 03:04 PM

Well, I smacked into that Wall of Shame again with the full splat SFX of a mosquito playing chicken with 007's Aston Martin.

Back from a wonderful trip around France and to Turkey which, despite initial expectations that I might squeeze in a 48-hour editing period on a rainy day, proved to be so blindingly sunny and great that the last thing I wanted to do was return to my computer screen. In any case, some of the hotels had no Internet, and those that did had put limits on uploading to stop peer-to-peer sharing. So any opus would have needed a slog to a web café and the beach was frankly more tempting.

Thems me excuses. But I will try again on the next one (December?).
