good evening,

Graeme,

45 minutes? you should have been in the long form of uwol!!!!

Progress.

Considering today is the 9th, tomarrow is it.

I had to cut out a shoot I had planned, but I think it is quite fine without it, a relief.

This is the shortest one I think I have ever made, perhaps that is a good thing.

I am rendering it in 1280x720 right now for one last look. Mostly I am pleased with it.

It is totally out of my box/comfort zone. Been a challenge. I had several aspect ratio problems to resolve, keyframing problems and the usual color work, however the color work this time was easier than most!! also had some audio recording issues recording music.

It has been fun!!! though taxing, at least for me. Rule 11 prevailed!!!

[del]2AM[/del] [del]4AM[/del] 5AM of the 10th, nothing to lose and mostly finished. I'll just add a sound fx or two and then sleep before rendering tomorrow.
I'm quite happy and excited with my short.

Graeme Hay January 9th, 2010 08:49 PM

Is rendering the same as encoding (I'm new at this, want to make sure I did it correct, and also used the right lingo)?

My 4:48secs + credit video only took ~10 minutes to "encode" and now I have the video, yeah!

Took quite a while to fish the useable clips out of all the short chips of animals.

Today is the day.. :)
First version of my entry is edited and encoded for uwol and youtube.
Well, when did I ever make only a first version. Of course I have found several issues.
New editing after work today. Deadline is coming up fast.

Should have had more various footage to play with. Oh well, too late for that now.

Good luck everyone! Hope you all have had FUN!
Looking forward to see all the videos.

Andris Krastins January 10th, 2010 05:57 AM

I'm now preparing my 11th or 12th edit I think :D

Andris Krastins January 10th, 2010 11:06 AM

I've uploaded it, I've uploaded it! Finally it's done! :D

Lorinda, if you read this, as always, please confirm, if you've received my submission e-mail. I wouldn't like to be disqualified because of some stupid spam filter. :)

Chris Barcellos January 10th, 2010 01:54 PM

Uploaded mine about 1 this morning, and sent links to theDVChallenge.com side. Instead of the original film we planned, I turned this into a project for my 4 grand daughters, age 7-16, and I. We had a lot of fun together. They are getting to be veterens in making films....

Andris Krastins January 10th, 2010 01:56 PM

Wow, you're a wonderful granddad, Chris! It must be very exciting for the kids!

Chris Barcellos January 10th, 2010 03:24 PM

Andris:

Nice to have a ready to go cast to make a narrative film when you want to.

Dale Guthormsen January 10th, 2010 05:56 PM

Good evening,

Well, trials and tribulations are over. I rendered, downloaded and submitted the linc to DVc link. it is way different than original plans, out of my normal zone of comfort, but It was a lot of fun and I learned some new stuff. Now it is time to do some things around the homestead as it is a toasty 28 degree F today and supposed to stay for most the week!! Nice!!!

Look forward to seeing all the awesome ones that will be posted.

Well nothing from me....dang it...

Put me in the tank of shame or on the wall of sharks....because I failed to complete...

Too much family...not enough time...

Rob Evans January 12th, 2010 03:45 PM

I'm a swimmin' too :-(
I think the long form probably put burn me out a little bit. Did have some very good ideas though. Good luck to the finishers!!!

Trond Saetre January 12th, 2010 03:46 PM

Rob and Bob,
That was sad news. Hope the sharks treat you guys nice.
See you in the next uwol challenge. :)

Andris Krastins January 12th, 2010 05:36 PM

Now that “True Gifts” is finished (though I’d like to make some changes, but it’s already published because of the deadline, so meh) I’m already thinking of shooting the next short with my own theme, putting down some notes now. Can't... stop... filming...

edit: I'm a "Major Player" now? Woohoo! :)
