After reading other poster's tales, I feel I should share. I nearly threw in the towel myself. I even traveled to the Bahamas to shoot this "show" (and another show...). Then got back to do post and was so bored of it. So then I went to throw in the towel and out of nowhere the girlfriend intercepted me, tackled me to the floor WAIT that's a different story. All in all I only used aprx 30sec of that footage and started from scratch. I cannot wait to have it finished for all to see, and is easily one of my favorite projects I have ever done.

Thank you for giving us one more week, now I will try the best I can to submit my video.
Really, this was a Christmas gift I like very much :)
Now I just have to get hold of the cat and get it to interact with its character.

The extra week is a good thing. I see a tiny little hope I will manage to submit something after all.
In worst case, I'll just cut together a teaser or something like that.

So far I'm thinking this will be a kind of short/light version of a project I have been more or less planning for a couple years.

The extra few days are needed over here -- if only to successfully upload the file. The internet in this place is throttled, and access to Vimeo is possible only in the most roundabout way to get by the censors. But it's on its way....

Pretty much in the can. Can use the next week to clean up some things, if I want...

Locked and loaded. My entry's in. If I hold on to it for the next few days and fiddle with it I'm just as likely to find myself in the middle of another geopolitical storm that will sweep it away to the nether regions of the priority list. This is shaping up to be the Christmas that wasn't... Work, work, work!

Great to hear your entry is up, Marc! although I haven't taken a sneak peak at it yet because that would be wrong before the official judging process began. Definitely, 100% haven't looked even a teensy weensy bit.

Re: Tales of wonders and woe - charity challenge 2011

Whew, that's a relief. Because I didn't look on your page at all -- at all! -- for your Lovecraftian episode. At all. I suppose I could have blocked views to my video, but with the scruples cherished by the people here I knew that to be a pointless endeavour. Besides, too complicated to log on and find the damned buttons to do so.

The cat is uncooperative, but a few days left until the deadline expires...

Almost threw in the towel and put myself on the Wall of Shame again. Had a rough story, but no crew. Had some crew, but no story. Started shooting - sans my XL2 :( - but here in L.A., we faced days of major windstorms, the power in my area went out days later for something unrelated, then my internet went down this past weekend.

Then a ray of light hit me - Dylan's surprise. I'm determined to finish, rain or shine (it's currently pouring cold, cold rain, to boot) and get myself off the wall! Hell, I'll even do our DVC "run-into-your-credits-time" tradition, just you watch! Anyone else who is still thinking of calling it quits? Forget that and let's finish!!

Oh, did I mention that I go back on tour by Wednesday? Wait, what was the theme again?

I sent links in a couple of days ago. Looking for a confirmation of receipt. Lorinda or Dylan ? Do we have one ?

Re: Tales of wonders and woe - charity challenge 2011

Yup, mine has been ready since about the 6th of December. I thought about doing a new edit, color correcting, or shooting a new scene with the extra time, but never got around to it.

Do we set up a thread with our video embedded in it?

Chris Barcellos December 16th, 2011 02:00 PM

Re: Tales of wonders and woe - charity challenge 2011

What generally happens is as the period for submission nears, Lorinda or Dylan will post a list of people who have submitted. Then, later they start releasing links over a 3 to 5 day period. Then there is voting and the winner is selected. You should not list links until they do.

In past, UWOL side has had their own upload page. I am not sure if that is continuing, but I sent in under theDVChallenge.com email.

Re: Tales of wonders and woe - charity challenge 2011

Ok thanks. Sent the links to Lorinda & Dylan.

Best of luck everyone, and Merry Christmas!

Gosh, some of you guys are so on top of things! I'm impressed. I'll send a confirmation email to you in a bit. For the rest of you, when you are finished, email the link to your uploaded video to thedvchallenge@gmail.com.

Subject line: DVC/UWOL Charity Challenge 2011

Body:
Your Name
Name of Your TV Show/Trailer
Link

If you've already sent and didn't follow that don't worry about it--it just makes things easier if we can paste. Simon, I got your link and will forward it to the challenge address. Thanks.

As for the UWOL vault, we still haven't got things completely set up yet but that doesn't mean I can't set up another portfolio for this challenge. Those of you who want to distinguish your video as UWOL will be welcome to archive it there. Shoot me an email if you want to do this and I'll send you the password when the page is ready.

It's a wrap. Well, at least it is something, but better to make something than bail out.
Waiting for the upload to complete.

Joseph,

You ever take your show out East? Love to catch it if you ever play Atlanta.

About an hour to go and we've received NINE entries! If you are experiencing technical difficulties let us know; otherwise, get 'em in!

I'm compressing right now and then uploading. I'm guessing that will take my internet a while. Anyways, it will be there in the morning. You'd think with the extra week that I wouldn't be cutting it so close. I guess that's just not my style.

I'm currently touring up and down the Pacific Coast, the Northwest, and the Central South. Hopefully I'll find myself heading east by the end of next year! Good to hear from ya!

Don't play Atlanta without pinging me! My 12 year old son love your promo on your web page and wants me to take him to a show!
