EZ CD Creator 6.0 for DVD authoring
 

Gotta make some DVDs for some shorts I did shot on miniDV. I'm looking into getting Sony's DRU500AX (OEM). Has anybody used Roxio's new EZ CD Creator 6.0 to make DVD menus, etc.

What you get in those sort of packages are very simple menu structure and Graphics. Personally I have not used EZ 6 to create DVD.

If you want something that will give you more control, enable you to import your own graphics etc. You will need to spend a bit more and go for a true authoring package.

Computer video had an article on it in the July edition here in the UK. They gave it 85%.

Anybody have any suggestions on higher end authoring software? I'm looking to find the best (most professional) program for the job.

If you want a "higher end" authoring package you might look into Sonics ReelDVD

I have been using it for about a year. It is the only software that costs under $1000 that would give me the menu flexability that I required for some of the projects that I have been doing.

An even better package is Sonic Scenarist

But, Scenarist is insanely expensive, and have a massive learning curve. Though if you do buy it, it comes with training, not just manuals.

I did try EZ CD/DVD Creator 6.0 the only thing I have to say is stay away, stay far away. While is might be fine for people who want to put the typical home videos on, its intended audience, for a professional it is a waste of time.

Yes. ReelDVD. It's the one.

I also use Reel DVD. Its a great tool once you know it.

DVDit might also do what you want its the one below ReelDVD.

DVDit couild work also, depending on what sort of menuing structure you want. While you don't have the control in DVDit that you have with ReelDVD or Scenarist, you can make some pretty complex menu structures. I switched from DVDit to ReelDVD because of the ability to do motion menues, subtitles, and multiple audio tracks.

The first copy of ReelDVD I had I got through "unofficial" channels, then I recreated a DVD I had done with DVDit, and even with the learning curve and no manual I was able to do so faster that I did with DVDit. As soon as I was finished I went online and ordered ReelDVD. Probably the best software investment I have ever made. I do wish I could afford Scenarist, but I don't have $6000 - $35,000+ to spend.
