DV Info Net - First DVD Authoring Exp...May help Newbies!

OK guys. I have been shooting DV for a while now as a hobbiest, but always just used my footage online. I mostly shoot Remote Controled Helicopters, and they are a chore to keep in a frame. I also just made a huge purchase for a Canon XLS-1 so I wanted to make sure that I could Author DVDs successfully prior to shooting some of the bigger Flying events that are coming up. After a few weeks of research and R&D here is what I have found that works quick, easy, and seems to operate in every DVD player that I have tested.

First, I am using a Toshiba Satellite Laptop with a DVD-R, DVD-RW rewritable drive. Does really well so far.

1. I am capturing the video from the DV device into Windows Movie Maker. Came with my computer and actually does a great job. I own Premeire but have just not had the time to dive into it yet. Once I get the full clips into Movie Maker I chop them up as needed and save them as large AVI files.
2. I then import the clips into Ulead DVD Workshop. I picked this software up new for about $200 and it works flawlessly. Not as many options as I would like but it does allow me to import some Photoshop stuff and make pretty darn dynamic menus with very little effort.
3. I use Ulead DVD Workshop as well do Burn the DVDs. It takes about 30-40 minutes to burn the first one, but resolutions seems awesome so far. Even on a 65 inch big screen it all seems pretty clear and sounds great.

For the amount of time that I have spent I am very happy with the results and with the operation of Ulead DVD Workshop.

Any vets that may read and have further tips, please post them. Just thought some of the people that are nervous may want to try this path for it is about as easy as it gets to go from DV Camcorder to DVD with a minimal investment and superior results.

I also own Roxio CD/DVD creator 6, and it was crap in comparison.
