Hi there,
Are you happy with this burner Magnus?
I'm very close to bying it (or even the new LG4081 which is already sold in Japan 8x +R).
Can you give some impression - is it compatible with Vegas and DV architect if you work with them for example.
Drive noise, error rate, etc.

CHIP, germanys biggest computer mag, compared 10 multi-units and the 4040b (120 euros) was rated as number 2, after the winner plextor 708A (200 Euros)

I'm very happy with the unit, not too noisy, writes 4.7GB DVD-RAM at 3x, installs with standard WinXP ASPI-drivers, works fine with Nero 6.0, is recognized but not officially supported by Vegas DVD Architect (but I use DVDlab which is outstanding for USD 99 with effortless / wizards for motion menus and chapter menus )

"Slow" 32x CD read, but writes a DVD-R in 14 minutes,
and a DVD-RW which it writes at 1x speed (duh..) plays well in the Dansai DVD-player...

Highly recommended.
