DVD+ or DVD- what should I go with?
 

Topic says it all. I'm getting a DVD burner. Is one format looking like it has more of a future over the other?

As for future I think that there is a while before it becomes 1. This sort of topic has been answered many times before. try the search ^.

Generally speaking -R has been out the longest and has most compatibility with settop DVD players (95%). +R are said to be compatible with about 90% of settop players. They both should work in any DVD ROM.

Get your self a +R and -R (RW) drive. Therefore you get the best of both worlds. e.g. Pioneer A06

invest in a DVD+/-. this way you can burn both formats.

I have the Pioneer A-06, and it's working fine so far.

When this was discussed a few months ago, another user reported that some DVD ROM players cannot play both +R and -R.
He referred to a compabilitylist but I don't remember where you find it.

I recommend the wonderful Plextor dual format 708A +R/-R, which will burn good DVD+Rs at 8x on 4X discs. It's an excellent burner, and the Plextor name has arguably long been the best in the burning bidness.

dual burner sounds like a good idea

i have a dual burner but what does everyone recomend for play back on a regualr home dvd player + or -

I've found that DVD+Rs are more likely to play on older players than DVD-Rs. But the stats show that overall -Rs have better compatibility, and all DVD duplicator services pretty much use -R exclusively and rarely have playback problems.
