DVD Menus/Authoring-the best way?

ok...i have read some threads...and there just isnt enough info..

....is there a standard of quality between these softwares... for instance..if i use elements to make a dvd from the premiere footage that got edited, will that quality be the same as if i was to use lets say...my sonic dvd, or any other dvd auth software...
I am wondering what is the best way to author a dvd without the loss of quality. IF i dump my footage to DV CAM and take it in to have it done by a DVD auth house...will they use the same stuff that i would?

another question.... whats the best software to make compclicated dvd menus? i tried that elements...but all it has is weddding presests...maybe i havent figured it out yet...

thanx guys

Bear in mind that encoding your video to MPEG2 for DVD and authoring a DVD (menus, buttons, etc.) can and probably should be two different steps.

On the authoring side, I haven't seen much difference in quality between the numerous packages I have used. Just differences in features (motion menus, etc.).

On the encoding side, there can be a huge difference. Many of the bundled all-in-one packages, such as Sonic MyDVD have horendous MPEG2 encoding, really unwatchable, and no options configurable to tweak settings.

Best bet is to use TMPGEnc or CCE to encode your video (do some reasearch on how to tweak the settings), then bring it into the authoring package of your choice.

i guess it comes down to testing and seeing wich has the best result... i hvae tried using tmpeg...and i gotta say....i have made a few unsucesfull encodings.....i most likely need to read up more on it. I guess if they made this process easy..everone would be doing it..heh...
