if you export a quicktime and then import that into compressor, you can reduce your render times with HDV.

As I understand from this thread ...replacing my dual 2 ghz G5 for a quad G5
will not bring me a lot more speed when it comes to compressor.....
That would actually be my main reason to upgrade my machine.

I just finished a project this weekend. i decided to shoot this corporate image film with a length of 34 min on dv cam to avoid the rendering times that come with hdv. The result was quit surprising. Rendering the final edit with compressor was done at night like I do with hdv as well. That also took 3 .5 hrs......

I have the same experience with rendering from hdv to mpeg 2 with the dvd best quality preset. It looks better than a dvcam shoot to mpeg 2......
I want my bleu-ray machine!
