AE 7 Media Encoder, No 2-Pass VBR for DVD?
Just noticed in After Effects 7 Pro that when going into Media Encoder, there is only a 1-pass VBR and not 2-pass for MPEG2-DVD. PrPro has 2-pass VBR along with Encore as well. What's the deal, anybody? I'm close to putting out a product that I've been color correcting with Color Finesse within AE and don't want to have all the care and precision I've taken over the last 18mnths to take a hit because AE 7 doesn't have a 2-pass VBR setting for MPEG-DVD output. Many thanks.

I'd output to DV-AVI and use a better MPEG2 encoder, myself. TMPGEnc works way better than Adobe Media Encoder in my experience.

I have not taken a look at AE7's encoder, but if it comes to the worst, perhaps you could frame-serve to an encoder (i.e., pass on the video to the encoder frame-by-frame without creating an intermediate file).

Thanks guys. I've gone out uncompressed in the past for a different reason and had a 60GB file. Then I used Encore's Media Encoder. Don't want to add another generation of compression with the DV AVI though and it doesn't make sense why 1 media encoder is different from the others considering it's Adobe's across the board.
Emre, how do I go about frame serving? Kevin |
