Heres a travel promotion video of an Island which I shot for the Department of Tourism.
4 day shoot with additional 2 for pick ups. Entirely done on the 7D.

very nice, makes me want to make a trip there! Did you use a slider for some shots?

Its a mini dolly I made from plywood. Can do repeatable curved shots using a laser pointer. I have the construction instructions here.

the mini dolly / skater looks solid! I agree, it can do lots of nice curved dolly shots. We have one in the studio as well, but we were one of those that forked out hundreds of dollars just for one. :P

Yeah, Cebu is so nearby! I think there's a budget airline that goes there, that should whittle down the costs! Now all i need is to find some time. :)

It's the WP-S10 I presume? We used it for stills (Nikon) on my trip to Panglao a month ago. What do you use to clean the plastic lens port? Water tended to stick to it even after wiping it with a microfibre cloth.

Yup, you are right Mike. Its that model. I used just microfibre. So far I had no problems. Do drop by the studio next time you're on the island.

yup, cebu pacific has flights from Singapore. I'd be sure to call on you when i do! :)

Thanks, my lenses are all nikon mount since our studio used nikons for several years, also used them on my 35mm lens dof adapter.


For this project I used;

80-200 nikon f2.8
105mm macro nikon f2.8
50mm nikon f1.4
20-40mm sigma(nikon mount) f2.8

Only one lens with a canon mount;
11-16mm tokina f2.8

Very nice. Great sense of place.
I found the color grading a bit too warm for my taste. To me light brown skin became a bit too yellow, and the greens are muddied. The warmer look does make the inside shots inviting.

The skin tone on the model was excellent. But the still photographer in me wanted you to first find a beach location for the model where the water was/can be made blue.

I watched the video several times to learn from your camera moves and framing.

Thanks for the constructive technical inputs. I have tweaked the material slightly since you last viewed it.

This was our first major project done on 7D after it was released in our country, I was impressed with it since it allowed us to shoot even in normally challenging situations.

Here's some notes.

Our production time and date was not ideal since it wasn't summer here. The entire days was overcast thus my heavy use of warm filtration. In fact several beach shots were taken in betweens downpours. Which at times seems like a mini typhoon! The weather seal of the camera helped.

The camera allowed us to finish on sked even if the days were much shorter! In summer, sunset in our country is around 630-645ish. During our shoot its 520-30ish! But due to cleaner high ISO of the camera we were able to nail it. We wouldn't have been able to do the dark scenes with my other cameras, the HD100/HD200+lens adapter combo.

I tweaked some skin tones slightly. Don't know if its to your liking though.

I used several nikon and sigma lenses for nikon with a nikon-canon adapter.

20-40mm, 50mm, 105mm macro, 80-200mm

& a canon mount tokina 11-16mm.
