5d video of Longwood Gardens

Very nice! Thanks so much for sharing that.
Where is Longwood Gardens, BTW? |
As usual, an amazing video spurned out by a Canon 5D MKII.
It makes me work more just to own one. Thanks for sharing anyway. |

Hi Dee,
You've captured some gorgeous shots in this video. I especially liked the rotating tree. I think your final render is over compressed though. It's only ~100 MB for ~4 minutes. If you look at your opening shot, the bricks on the driveway have detail in some areas, but not in others. The first fountain shot has a similar look in the background trees. These artifacts remind me of what I've seen from the D90 - and why it's worth the extra bucks to get the 5D. I would guess that your original files didn't have these artifacts. Vimeo allows encoding of up to 5,000 mbps. We had better luck with 4,000 mbps. The 5,000 mbps files were hard for some PCs to decode smoothly. With your style of videography, you deserve the best output quality you can get. You might try higher bit rates and see if the end quality doesn't improve. All the best, |
For some reason the Vimeo encode doesn't look well. I'll encode again. I think the Exposureroom version looks better.

I visited Longwood Gardens for New Years 2008 and was most impressed with the outdoor tree lights. Your outdoor video shots of the tree lights are incredible. This is a perfect example of how well the video in the 5D MKII performs when lighting conditions are challenging.

Thanks. It really is great for photography and video capture. I red-did the encode and the best one to view is
