Handheld Mini Doc

Shot with 24 - 105 lens.
Any suggestions or comments appreciated. I've got a thick skin so don't worry about upsetting me :-)

NB The technical quality of the original on Vimeo is better than this. Probably because I have a Vimeo Plus account.

Richard,

Since you're looking for feedback... It's a nice piece but I would have liked to have seen a wide shot of the entire ship, maybe before you got on or even better after you got off (twilight). Also would have been cool (though maybe not possible) to film her from one of the other ships (or shore) while she sailed by. As it was some of the rigging shots became repetitive. Also as it looks like a pretty unique ship it may be neat to add a little voiceover describing her history or design or ???

Liked the music and the mood it set.

Thanks Ken
I appreciate your feedback.
I absolutely agree with you about where you would take the film. I'm planning to make a little piece about the boat and her owner, Nick Gates and this filming was partly a tryout towards that. I wanted to see what the 5Dmk2 could do without any support or loupe etc.
The rest of the film will have to be next season now.
Earlier this year I shot the boat from the water using a different camera (Sony A1). Link below.
What I'd like to do is completely reshoot the boat underway and the footage onboard using both cameras, but over a weekend, probably doing some racing, with the group of people that we had on board for the first shoot eg the babies and the dog too. Like a big party.
I'll supplement that with an interview with Nick and some shots of his boatyard.
I value constructive criticism. It's a good way to learn. So if anyone else has anything to add I'll be very pleased to hear it.
