Yeah after I posted my comment I saw the audio clipping problem with FCPX and Lion.
For me this is one of the reasons that I had no interest in upgrading my OS to Lion at this time. I'll wait until the next update or two before I attempt to upgrade to Lion as there seems to be many issues with it at this time.

Same goes for FCPX and Lion together, whihc is basically both 1.0 software versions.

Funny that it seems that converting to AIFF fixes the problem. As FCP7 wouldn't take .mp3 or any compressed audio so you had to convert to AIFF audio to work without rendering each time. Now it seems that FCPX will work with compressed audio, but still give you problems.

I find this kind of ironic, in that Apple is king of the compressed media realm with iTunes and all.

Glad you were able to fix the problem though.

Lion is now at 10.7.1 so I'm wondering if the update has fixed anything relating to FCPX.

Yeah from personal experience from Apple in the past, I wasn't expecting the Lion update to fix anything.
I don't think that anything will be addressed on the Lion side, but rather on the FCPX side. So until FCPX 1.1 comes out, I am not holding my breath for any fixes.

Apple expects the programs to be updated and fixed to run with it's OS. This includes all Apple software as well as secondary software like Adobe, Matrox, Avid etc. It's just the Apple way.
