FCP X - Pixels Missing on Some Transitions

Re: FCP X - Pixels Missing on Some Transitions

This may not be an FCPX bug but an error by the author of those transitions in Motion. The example given here is the Squares transition which I am not familiar with. It may be constructed by mathematical programming or be an image gradient wipe. If it is indeed a gradient wipe then it's possible that the base image the transition is using to achieve the effect is slightly wrong. If it is a mathematical formula then adjusting for pixel dimensions may not have been programmed in the effect.

Re: FCP X - Pixels Missing on Some Transitions

William,

From I can tell it is a bug because the problem can be created with some built-in transitions inside FCP X.

From the article: "It is particularly noticeable as the outgoing video stays behind the incoming video until the end of the transition. That results in an edge and the incoming video popping back to its original size.

We thought it was an error in some of the coordinates and maths in the custom transition, not so as you can reproduce the problem with one of Apple's built in effects."

It is somewhat common to find these type of program bugs in NLE's from time to time. That is why it is important to report them to Apple so they can address them.
