Color Correction - How to?

I have a lot of experience with basic color correction on the Final Cut Pro series. This isn't about that.

Recently I shot several days worth of material with a shiny new FS100, and a few other cameras. I was (hastily) trying out the G-Log ultimate profile thinking (incorrectly) that any significant color shifts could be brought back to the other profiles (all others set to generic 'neutral' profiles) in post. I'm finding it's not that easy (should have known). Though, yes, the footage is amazing from the FS100, the G-Log Ultimate colors are too far off from the real world colors (at least regarding reds). And, since cars are the subject here, it's no good to have a maroon car appear orange in 75% of the final edit.

Since the shoot I have figured out that a corrective issue for this in camera was to simply shift the "color phase" back to 0 (or closer thereto). Frank Glencairn's profile has it at -7, which is shifting the color wheel too far when true colors matter. (After extensive testing... which I should have done earlier, I have complete several shoots since, and this color setup is working great. But, back to the orange car...)

How can I achieve the the same color corrective result of "shifting phase" in Final Cut Pro X? My understanding is that this moves the entire color wheel. I've spent a fair amount of time searching online and messing with different approaches, but haven't been able to find anything that brings the orange car back to it's native maroon. (and, for what it's worth, the FIA curbing that is supposed to be red is also orange.Aesthetically, very nice, but not correct.)

I'm going to also post this in the FS100 forum in the event there's a better theoretical approach for me to take to correct. I am also in the process of learning DaVinci Resolve, which has more extensive tools for color correction vs FCPX, but for some reason the latest version crashes on launch. If I really need to go there, I can, but I'll have to figure out why it's crashing first.

Thanks,

Ryan

Re: Color Correction - How to?

And the winner of the "Making it harder than it needs to be" award is... me! Yes, after several weeks, I post this and it dawns on me. Just a simple (subtle) Hue adjustment using the Hue/Saturation filter in FCPX. That's right kids, don't ignore the obvious! (ugh...)

LOL

Colour correction and grading in FCPX is easier than any 3 way I've ever used within any other NLE.
