Software Needed to Make Menus in FCPX

Hi, Is there software for FCP X similar to Sony's DVD Architect? I would like to use menus, sub menus, backgrounds, etc. Thanks in advance for your help. Ray

Sorry Ray, the overall answer is no.

X allows you to author very basic DVDs directly out of the program with a few options. You can have a white on black or black on white menu. You can import a graphic for a background. You can choose Play on Disc Insertion or Go to Menu on Insertion, And X will read chapter markers and break them down into clickable Go To Chapter links - but that's about the extent of it's authoring capabilities.

Before his passing, Steve Jobs was widely quoted as feeling that plastic discs were already dead technology - so it's not surprising that there's little authoring capability inside FCP X.

And that's reflected by the fact that none of the DVD authoring software is still being actively developed. If you need sophisticated menus, you'll need to find an old copy of DVD Studio Pro, Encore, or a similar authoring package from the past.

DVD's are dead technology walking - even if there are lots of clients who don't want to acknowledge it yet.

DVDStyler - Free DVD Authoring Application will allow you to author basic DVD's with menu's, backgrounds, buttons etc from an FCPX exported file.

For what it's worth, this why I loath FCPX and still use Sony Vegas DVDA for DVD projects.

I hear ya....... As of right now it looks like DVDA will have to be used in a round about way. Thanks, Ray
