Help....My computer is acting weird
2 Attachment(s)
I have a 2006 Mac Pro 2.66 dual core and I recently started experiencing what you see in the pics.....Has anyone experienced this? I spoke to someone at apple and they stated it may be the logic board or the power cord on the monitors. Any suggestions? Thanks

Re: Help....My computer is acting weird
It might also be a failing graphics card?

Re: Help....My computer is acting weird
Thanks Noa,
I didnt even think of that....... but I realized that I work with an apple tech guy thats was just hired and he said the same thing.......graphics card... |
Re: Help....My computer is acting weird
My experience with graphic cards is that they usually are the first to fail in older computers, that component is stressed quite a lot troughout it's life cycle.

Re: Help....My computer is acting weird
My 2006 Mac is doing the same thing. Graphics card for sure.

Re: Help....My computer is acting weird
If your tech confident, pull the graphics card, use compressed air to blow out the card and the computer (don't hold it too close to the card) and re seat it.

Thanks Craig, I'll give that a try.

You might also try gently lightly rubbing over the edge connector with a pencil eraser as this will remove any oxidation that may have developed over the course of tie.
