Screen Capture Software
 

Hi there, can someone recommend a good screen capture software? I'm looking to do some software/tech support videos for a company and looking for a high end finished product. Is there a QuickTime or Final Cut plugin for purchase that will record my on-screen actions into a hi-res QT file?

Works well only tried the demo a while back. Not sure what the output resolutions are.

I've used Snap Pro and while I know its comes highly recommended I'm not entirely happy with it. I find the resolution to be lower than what I would like.

FWIW I know that various reputable training DVD's that use screen capture don't seem to do any better and its probably safe to say that they'd be using the best available.

So perhaps Snap Pro is as good as it gets but if anyone can offer an alternative, I'd like to know.

Camtasia Studios is the best for this, unfortunately it's designed for Windows. I've heard it will run on Mac parallels however. Good luck.

Thanks for that. Looks like I'll have to try and find a copy of XP. Anyone know if thats still possible?

you could also look into ishowu, which is what the guys who do the MacBreak video podcast use I believe.

Yes, XP is still available, any large software/electronics store will carry it. It was selling more copies at the end of last year than VISTA (off the shelves).

I use the standard Screen Capture(supplied with macbook) and then import in photoshop cs2 and I play with levels,unsharp etc.
sometime the film convert to divx have better colors.
looks good on photo papers or print, but I never past 2x3 images.

Has anyone found a solution/substitute or is everyone like me and waiting for the Mac version of Camtasia? I really don't want to put Parallels on my Mac. Camtasia, hello, I have money in hand and want to buy your software, hello??

Flip4Mac - ScreenFlow

this is incredible! i've used it recently for doing screencasts and was amazed with the results. It captures all of the clips and puts them into an iMovie style editor but you can easily export these clips out as quicktime files in any codec of your choice.

They have a free trial, give it a go and see if it fits your needs.
