SD & HD...possible for me??

Just a quick question...

i normally edit just standard def. but someone has a recorded HD tape (1080i) that i need to incorporate with a shoot. I am wondering if I can incorporate that with my SD footage in the FCP timeline together?

and if not, how do i go about combining it together if possible? sorry, i am new to HD. Any options/opinions you have would be a great help!

I use FCP Studio 5.0.4

thanks in advance!!

You should be able to bring it into your SD timeline, and render it. Personally I bring HDV into after effects to de-interlace (or "interpret footage"), then I bring it into my SD project. I haven't researched this a lot, it's just what works for me.

Jay,

It's really going to depend on what HD codec you're being given. If it's one of the broadcast formats, DVCPRO, HDCAM etc you should be fine. However if it's from one of the newer cameras that's in an MXF format then you'll need to have it converted before your version of FCP can use it.
