What's a good FTP client for MXF files?

I'm hoping to be able to move MXF files(daily news stories) shot with my F350 from my MBP(FCP) and send them to a server, using highspeed wireless. The average size of the files would be about 800mb. I have tried using my Adobe Go Live ftp transfer, but it gets hung up at times, and I was wondering if there was something better?

Also the arena where I feed from seems to have wired highspeed as well as wireless. Would that be better, and what would I need to make that work? I'm new to high-speed internet.

Thanks, Peter

Wired high speed is usually a matter of supplying your own ethernet cable, or, they may have them. Plug it into your MBP ethernet port. Open your browser and check to see if you can access web pages. If so, you are on line.

There are a few different FTP programs available for the Mac. I use one called Yummy FTP.

I would suggest wired over wireless because if it's gigabit ethernet they offer via wired connection, your files will have a bigger pipe than with wireless.

Thanks Greg, that's twice in one day that you have been of help. Much appreciated!

Just to be clear, there isn't a better FTP client for ______ files or ________ files... it doesn't matter what type of file it is, they aren't designed that way.

For the Mac, Interarchy is a very good FTP client. I have used it for years and it is very solid. I've recently been toying around with Fetch, which is not nearly as robust as Interarchy. I have never used Adobe's Go Live, so I have no comment on the quality of that app.

Interesting. I've used Fetch for a while, and never had a problem with it.

I'm not saying Fetch has problems, just that Interarchy is a more robust FTP client. From my days as a web developer, Interarchy was the client of choice. Now that I have moved away from that industry, Fetch has been suiting my limited needs just fine.

I love Fetch, nice, easy and stable.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll check them all out.

I've always used Fetch or Dreamweaver/GoLive earlier, but then found Cyberduck, which has worked great for me.

Main benefit over Fetch: It's free. :)
