HDV hours/gig's

This may be a dumb question, if so I apologize. I have been looking for some information or maybe some sort of scale or graph that would show how much hard drive memory doe's one hour of HDV require?

Thank you.

From Wikipedia:

Quote:

HDV 1080i uses a recording data rate of 25 Mbit/s (3.125 MB/s) while HDV 720p records at 19.7 Mbit/s (2.46 MB/s)
multiply by your datarate (in MB/s) by 60 and you will have your answer.

Digital Heaven has cool widget to calculate disk space for various codecs.

AJA has a free one as well. Works really well, multiple formats.

720p or 1080i?

720p is about 9GB/hour
1080i is about 12GB/hour

For 1080i that gives me 187.5. Are you sure?

That's right, your data rate for HDV 1080i is something like 3.3, same as DV.
