yea that's what apple has been professing for a while now about their prores, but I'm thinking with heavy grading, remastering, uprezzing to 1080p HDCAM for film fest exhibition, or transferring to film, the added compression of prores and it's lossy characteristic is gonna show in your originally compressed HDV footage. So, Paolo's logic is that if you have lofty ambitions for your footage, it's better to keep as much of the quality intact, because it may eventually show. Hence, Sheervideo codec or uncompressed. Even if you don't originally have grand plans for your HDV captured footage, who knows down the line if you'll need to remaster or do something fancy with the footage.
