Possible in FCP 5.1?
Long story short, I'm booked for an event and I can't loan a client my VX2100 to film a second event at the same time that wants to hire me. They will have to film themselves and want me to edit. They said they have a JVC Everio, GZ-MS100U which only records to an SD card. I don't know anything about it.
My question is even if I wanted to, can I use the footage in FCP 5.1 (FCS Studio 1)? I've got Parallels on my MacBookPro if I need a special driver, but will the resulting footage even be watchable when run through FCP and then DVD Studio? I found at a local rental shop a JVC GZ-MG130US, 30 GB HDD. If I had them rent that, could I edit that footage in FCP from the HDD? Thanks! |
You're not going to be able to edit directly off the cameras HDD (nor should you try) but rather capture from the camera (copy the HDD contents) just as you would any other project.
I'm not familiar with the consumer-cams that much but you might try the other JVC forum topic and see if others have more info. I'd also suggest doing some research on the JVC site and downloading the instruction manual for the camera so you know how to access it and learn it's limitations. |
