Work Flow For Dual Layer Discs

My first attempt to do dual layer with setting a break point was unsuccessful. First I had layer 1 longer than layer 0.

My 2nd attempt when making layer 0 longer then layer 1 also unsuccessful. Also got the same error message.

So I let DVDsp figure it out automatically, with success. But I don't know where it breaks, and god knows what it breaks on. So far no word from the client.

Just looking for for basic steps to get me on right track.
I make a reference movie, then bring that into DVDsp, if that helps any one. Thanks.

There are a few variables involved in this workflow. Have you read up on the workflow contained in the DVDSP manual? Check out pages 576-580 of the manual.

Dang! I didn't have a bit of luck trying to author to DL discs. You got a lot further than I did!

Had much success today authoring DL. Made sure break point was in proper place. Making sure layer 0 was bigger than layer 1. I suggest putting the break point in black. In between 2 fades to black, put a 2 second slug, and put the break point in the middle of that 2 second slug.

Having trouble again, I've now tried 2x, each break point marker past the half way point, so layer 0 is larger than layer 1. No luck. I now have assigned a bunch of break points using the marker inspector, hoping DVDsp will pick the one it likes. The manual says layer 0 has to be mostly filled. I think my problem is I don't know how to figure that out. Any other help would be appreciated. Thank you

That didn't work either, now layer 0 exceeds the maximum. Don't think you can pick several break points.

It happened again, does anyone know what I'm missing. I'm setting my break point on layer 0 past the midway point to make that layer longer. Yet I still get the message that layer 0 exceeds the maximum size allowed. I think it have to bring the bit rate down, what do you think?
