trying to figure out an effect

I am trying to figure out how to do an effect on FCP6(fcps2). When I introduce a talent or character, I want to isolate their image. Kinda like pulling there image out of the video. From there the image would be on top of another background, something totally different that looks kinda "wild". Oh and the persons image is freeze framed. I would then add a title bar to introduce who they are and then the video goes back to running in its original manner. Am I even remotely clear on this? HAHA

I think I know the effect you want to achieve. You can do this with Photoshop. Just export a still frame from FCP, then use the lasso tool in Photoshop to cut out the person. Save as a PNG to preserve transparency. Reimport into FCP, and add your background.

You need an image editor that at least has similar tools. Pixelmator should be able to do the job as well. Basically, you need to take the image outside of FCS in order to achieve this effect.

Andy: I get a kick out of the fact that Jude uses the VERY MANLY supercharger for this demonstration...
