NO audio, help!!!

I just came home from a big event. I filmed it, and thought all was well. Checked the levels, sounded good off the head phone, however, when I play it back, I get no audio!

I'm using an xl1s, with an MA-200 adaptor. I have a ME66 sennheiser mic, and a sennheiser wireless mic system. Everything worked perfectly the night before. But, for some reason, which I do not know, I am getting no audio when I play back. Either through my deck, on my computer with the imported footage, or from my camera onto the TV.

Can anyone give me advise or help, please. It was a family function, but even still, I don't ever want to encounter this again.

Thanks so much for your assistance.

When playing the tape back from the XL1 are the VU meters showing any audio? Where did you have the headphones plugged in?

Can you describe your playback connections and settings in detail?

When playing back, can you hear sound in the earphones?

Joshua Cohen February 16th, 2004 06:25 AM

Ok, I apologize for not being more descriptive, I was a tad emotional last night, so I do apologize.

When I play back on my camera, and I have the audio setting in audio 2, I can hear what's on the tape. My trouble now, is when I try to import into FCP. It's not picking up any audio. I am importing from my deck, and would prefer not to import from my camera.

Thanks for the help, and if anyone can help with FCP, that would be great.

Thanks again!

A standard capture only imports Audio 1 and with your audio feeding Audio 2 it won't be captured. That's why you can hear your audio in the camera but not when you import the footage. I don't know if FCP4 can import 4 channel audio and that might be what your problem is. If it doesn't then you may have to capture the audio seperately and try to sync it in the computer.

You just need to change your Capture preferences in FCP. FCP will capture all four channels of audio, but it takes two passes. You can do it in one pass since there is no audio on the first two channels. You will also need to change the project settings to work with the 12 bit audio you shot with the camera.

got it!

Yeah, I figured it out, on how to capture those channels. I appreciate everyone's help, and quick responses. Makes coming here worth while.

Thank you again!
