deleting hidden files in FCP
 

I have files that are in the are in " applications/Final Cut Pro.app/Contents/MacOS/Render Files/wedding.

I used Jdisk to find these files and they are taken up about 90GB on my hard drive. The problem is I have tried to search for these files in my finder and can't seem to detect them. I don't know how to delete them in JDisk. If anyone has any solution to this I would greatly appreciate it.

Hey Guys I figured it out. If this ever happens to anyone try this. Right click your FCP.app file in your applications folder. Then click on " show Package Contents" in there you will find a render folder.

I had a problem with a file I was working on and it ended up storing a corrupt file in the FCP Contents folder. The problem is, if you do a search you won't find it so I downloaded Jdisk and it found it for me. It took up 89gb on my mac book pro, so its worth knowing.

Actually that's only true if you have a completely default installation of FCP.

FCP allows you to manually select where render, capture scratch, cache and autosave information is stored (see pic) so for many - including laptop editors - who have and use multiple drives either internal or external and have used this manual configuration they won't find the "render" folder in the default package location with FCP, instead it will be where it's been assigned.

If you need to find other files that FCP creates you can always go to your System Preferences and look at where all these files are being pointed to.

CAVEAT: Don't ever make changes to these file locations in the middle of a project or; if you make changes to these locations after a project is completed you'll need to reconnect the media manually.

Clearing up old render files is best done through the built in Render Manager. Going into the .app folder is asking fro trouble unless you are absolutely certain of what it is you are doing in there.
