Boris Red?
I've come a cross somthing called Boris RED quite often recently.. What is it?
Thanks. |
It's a full effects package, similar to After Effects. It can be used in some program's native environments. For instance, in Avid the filters and effects show up in your effects pallet. When you apply an effect, the Boris window and interface opens up, you work the effect, and close the window. Then it is on your timeline. No need to "export" to a different program, manipulate and import - like you would with After Effects.

OK, thanks. Is it any good? (or what would you recomend?)
|
What NLE platform are you using? What sorts of effects/compositing work do you require? What is your experience regarding After Effects? What is the price of a bagle in Holland?
|
Well I'm using FCP 4.5. I haven't used after effects and probably won't be using it either. Little by little I do want to increase my editing skills in all sorts of areas.. (From what I undrestand alot of the Boris things can be used in FCP, right?)
Regarding the bagel price.. It's been a long time since I visited Holland and I'm not really fond of bagels either so.. can't help you. =( |
Alfred,
My suggestion is to outgrow the compositing and effects that came with FCP. When you find your self NEEDING to rotoscope better, or render a 3d image, or really really fancy compositing, then try the demos for the various softwares. |
You can also check out Apple's new offering, Motion.
|
HI Jeff?
i've seen Motion on the net.. Wasn't really sure what that was either.. I will check it out. But it gives you more choises to modify your footage then? Thanks. |
It's compositing software, similar to After Effects.

I got RED with Continum Complete Effects too. Red is very good but to become an expert in it will take me a long time. Its so "Full on". But it can do amazing stuff and 3D is a big part of it too. The "Cont Comp" are installed into FCP too so you can use these new effects straight away directly in FCP without having to learn the RED interface first.

THanks,
Yeah I think I'll give it a go. You have to start somewhere anyway.. |
