FCP transition help

Hello everybody

I have seen a really nice transition in Vegas whereby certain portions of the images bleed into white until the whole image is white and then it fades into the new image. The problem is that it isn't simply a layer over top or a gradient of white, it appears as though it comes from the highlights first and then spreads ot other areas. It makes a great transition for wedding videos but ihavent had much luck recreating it in FCP. I have tried things like chromaglow, but nothing really does the job. o, if anybody out there can decipher what i was trying to say and has any ideas, please let me know.

Thanks
Patrick

It sounds like an "optical fade" to white like those provided by Magic Bullet "Opticals". That would be the easiest way to do it.

Try the "Dip to Color" shortened to about 7 frames with white as the color and a composition mode of "screen".

Thanks Dae, I just tried that, and maybe I'm missing something but it didn't seem to work. But it gave me the idea to put a white layer above, ramp the opacity in and put the composite mode to add. It looked close. I'm looking for something similiar to the flash across from eureka but that has a yelowish tinge to it that doesn't look all that dreamy.

Any more ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

resizing a transition in FCP

I'm trying to figure out horw to reduce the size of a transition in fiFCP. Heres a copy of the description of what I'm trying to do in an email that I sent to someone. Here it is..
I hope I can describe it. I reduced the size of the clips so that I have three clips side by side in the viewer window. I had added dip to color transition between them. When I play it the transition remains covering up the whole viewer window instead of reducing in size with the clip. Does that make since? I just want the transition to remain the same size as the clips no matter what size I adjust them too. I just want the transition to cover only the clip and not all the black surrounding the the small clips. If you could help that would be great. Thanks
Scott

I think my Film Flash in Film Effects www.nattress.com will do pretty much what you want. I know Wedding videographers use it a lot.
