24p to 30p?
We recently shot some footage in 24p accidentally, though the final project is being shot in 30p. We're using Final Cut. Any idea on the best way to convert this footage over to 30p so we can edit in the same timeline?

Was it 24p or 24pA?
If it's 24p, it's 29.97fs media with embedded 24p frames using 3:2 pulldown. I'd just use it as is. It shouldn't look too different... If it's 24pA, you need to capture and remove advanced pulldown. Then, easiest is just to dump back to tape which will give you 24p normal due to FCP adding 3:2 pulldown, and then you can go back to it as if it were 24p normal and recapture. Graeme |
Thanks! Good to know...so we just put the two frame rates next to each other on the timeline? What if we added in 60i footage?

If you want to add in 60i footage to the timeline that will work, but it will look video compared to the more filmic look of the rest of your footage. If you don't have a high quality de-interlacer or 24p filter, can I recommend my own Film Effects www.nattress.com which will help you match your 60i to 24p or 30p -whichever you choose.
