No audio when playing from deck

I just switched to FCPHD from Premiere and am using a Dual G5 with a Sony DSR-11 deck. I am using this deck for the first time and everything is working fine except this. When I am playing a tape in the deck, there is no audio, however the audio meter is showing audio, but nothing is coming out the speakers. I only have the built in speakers and headphones and no audio from either. However once I capture the clip the audio is there and plays fine. Am I missing something here?

Thanks for the help!

Does this also happen with other devices like a camera? I know
my Vegas capture does this the moment I hit capture (so I hear
it before, but not during). It may be a way to reduce the chance
of dropping frames and such?

I havent tried it with my camera on this system yet. There is no audio when I play a tape (without capturing it) and no audio while I capture. But once it has been captured, the clip plays with the audio. Another problem Im having is that if I dont play a tape for a few minutes and then try and play again there is no audio or video, the screen just says preview disabled, yet timecode is updating and the audio meter shows that there is audio but I cant hear anything. closing the log and capture window and reopening doesnt work, but if I close FCP and reopen, everything works again (except the audio of course)......Any Ideas?

Try it with the camera to see what happens. I guess this is just
some setting somewhere, but I'm not on the Mac platform, so I
really don't know. Sorry.

As long as it captures it okay, all should be fine... Annoying, but fine!

I had the same annoying problem. There has to be a way.
