(error code 0) while trying to copy clips
I have never seen this error before. I took a clip went into compressor and made a prores HQ off a Nano source clip. And when trying to copy the clip to a external hard drive I get this (error code 0).
I tried unlocking the clip and that did not help. I wonder if the source clip is locked? |
That error code normally comes up when the drive is not formatted to the same spec as the originating HDD. Is the drive you're transferring to FAT32, for example. Or are you going from a journaled to a non-journaled HDD?
Try looking at the basics first of your HDD setups, then see what happens. Try a reboot too. |
Solved (error code 0) The clip has to be unlocked prior to going into compressor.
|
Robert you are correct the external drive is formatted on my Mac as Fat32 so I can move the files to my clients PC. This is the first time I have had this problem but I will reformat since this drive has been on their machine is is not acting the same.
|
Also some files copy and so do not.
Where do I look for the journaled to a non-journaled HDD? I answered that question in Get Info. My Mac Pro drives are journaled and the external drive does not say. |
From the looks of it I can not journal the Fat32 drive.
Interesting that the Nano .MOV files are locked in the bottom right of the info and I clicked LOCKED up to to unlock them. I have to go in and type my password and then they unlock. But next time I check they are locked. Not sure if this is the problem since some files transfer and some don't. Ah deadlines |
I don't remember if "Get Info" shows that in extended data or not but...
Use Disk Utility to look at the drive; in the lower info section it will tell you what the format scheme is and if it's "j" or "non-j". |
AH Presto I think I found the problem. Some are over 3.5GB and the Fat32 won't accept that. So I will break them up in compressor.
Am I talking to myself, why yes you are! |
Exactly, FAT32 is limited to 4-GB so anything super-close will get snubbed.
|
Thanks for your help Robert you are always so quick to help with Mac problems. Much appreciated. I know the limit from the Nano but it went right over my head.
|
"... you are always so quick to help with Mac problems."
So what are you saying, I'm no good for anything else? Are you somehow implying that I'm useless for helping with maybe say tuning up your car engine... or ironing clothes? What? Don't beat around the bush, Paul. (laughs) More than welcome dude; it's exactly why this forum exists. |
Ironing cloths cool, now there is a skill I have never mastered. Or for that fact tried.
Agree great forum. |
Bear in mind that FAT32 works as a sort of 'compatibility mode' which works with PC and Mac. If you MAC format the drive, it will not be recognised by a PC.
|
Correct Nick, I format the Drive my my Mac as Fat32 and pass it off to clients on their PC's. I have been doing this for a long time without a single problem prior to the clips size. But if I format it for Mac it will not be seen on a PC. The Fat32 way it works fine on both machines except for the PC problem of 3.5GB files size.
