High quality delivery format?
I've just finished a filmfest project that had lots of complex compositing. The filmfest requires the media to be delivered in a '.mov' format. My sequence settings are set to Pro-Res. I've exported to a self contained Pro Res file (1920/1080-29.97fps). Do you think this is the best format to give them? I'd prefer not to re-compress to anything but I'm not sure if Pro Res is playable on a machine that doesn't have QT Pro. Tomorrow is the deadline and I likely won't have time to re-upload another format. Any thoughts?

Welcome to the forums, Paul.
No, ProRes is not a delivery format and you should ask the people at the filmfest what format they want their finals in. QT is just a wrapper but they should have specifics about exactly what file/format type they have the ability to playback. Best to ask them then have any of us guess. |

http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/techniqu...shed-work.html Actually ProRes is becoming a standard HD delivery format. Especially for shorts since the files can fit on a data DVD but also feature length digital cinema by hard drive. 90gb for a feature, not bad. Everyone can read ProRes in the Windows world so re-compression to Windows based MPEG servers isn't an issue anymore. And as an editor for festivals I can tell you that I appreciate a ProRes file over an HD h.264 file any day. What your festival wants should be in their documentation. |
I also notice around me that Prores is becoming a more accepted delivery format. And I understand too, it's great quality and not too massive in size.
