Editing Multicam XDCAM EX in FCP
Hi There,
I've shot a concert on five EX3 all timecode synced up. My problem is that during recording the some of the clips have spanned across multiple cards. When I bring this footage into Final Cut Pro and attempt to do a multicam edit the split clips appear as a separate camera which is not good. Is there a way to merge to clips say: CAM1_PART1_CLIP1 and CAM1_PART1_CLIP2 into one clip CAM1_PART1 and maintain the timecode. Regards James |
Make a sequence (in the same codec) that starts with the same timecode as the first file. Piece the files together and export it as a QuickTime movie. Use the QuickTime movie as the camera master. That's it!

Thats it, I knew there was some way of doing it

Are you using the XDCam Transfer software to import the clips?
If a clip is spanned, you should see it as a ".smi" clip which will link all the associated clips and import it as a single clip. You will have to have all of the media online simultaneously to do that. If you saved your cards to a hard drive, this will be done more or less seamlessly and solve your problem. |
