Converting footage to AppleProRes 422 via Streamclip audio problem
Not sure if this is the right place to post this but...
I'm converting all my XDCAM EX footage to Apple Pro Res 422 via MPEG Streamclip. It works beautifully... footage looks great... but the audio comes out as a merged stereo track which I don't want! When I shot the footage I had lav mic on Channel 1 and camera mic on Channel 2. Streamclip merges these 2 channels together so I can't separate them. Ughh! I couldn't find any settings in Streamclip that preserves the Audio Channels as 2 separated tracks. Anyone know anything about this? |
You can unlink the paired stereo tracks in Final Cut. Option "L" should do it when the tracks are on the timeline.

Unfortunately this doesn't solve the problem. Streamclip merges both channels into each other so you can't isolate the audio. Unlinking in FCP or panning them L/R doesn't work either. them. Ch.1 contains audio from both tracks and so does Ch2. so the audio is no longer isolated.
This is really frustrating! |
That's mono then. Check the audio encoder options in MPEGStreamclip. It shouldn't be doing that at all. Also Sony makes a transfer program for the Mac specifically for these types of files. Have you tried that?
