HDV to SD DVD FINAL CUT 7

I download HDV in HD, edit in HD, and convert as the last step to burning an SD DVD.

What is still confusing to me is what method (workflow) of converting from HDV to SD is the best method before burning an SD DVD. I've tried exporting to Quicktime, then to Compressor/DVD Studio Pro. Have also used MPEG Streamclip and Toast.

The reason this is especially critical at this point in time is that I was hired to video tape series of fast paced soccer games. Just want to reduce the blur and get the best clarity to SD DVD.

Many thanks, everyone.

If you do some searching in this forum I'm sure you'll find more specific info. I usually capture HDV as prores do the edit and then export as a self contained quicktime. Take that into compressor. If you've captured as HDV then render as prores when you make the Quicktime. A much better result then staying with HDV.

Regarding any differences between capturing as Prores vs rendering the HDV as Prores, there are different opinions. Some say there is no difference, others that the former is better. I've never tested it myself.
