SxS reader question
I am building a suite for a client and their crews shoot with SxS. The Mac Pro I will use will be running Snow Leopard and I will install all the uptodate Sony drivers. I am looking at this reader rather than the Sony USB reader and wonder if anyone has used it.
Youtaka PPR10 is the fastest transfer rate (5Gbps) model, which takes all ExpressCard 34/54 mm in the market. It’s very powerful reader for ExpressCard like 3G/3.5G cards/ WLAN card/ TV card/ Audio sound card/ SSD ExpressCard/ Sony SxS Pro card/ eSATA/ IEEE1394/ USB3.0 adapter and flash memory adapters…etc. It also supports push-push slot for easy insert of Express Cards. Features PCIe interface compatible with 1.5V, 3.3V and 3.3 AUX PCIe signaling environment. Supports all ExpressCard 34/54mm. Especially supports SONY SxS Pro card. Sanyo OS-CON Solid Capacitor design. USB ExpressCard HOT SWAP Ebay item # 150804076995 (just copy and paste the number into the search box on ebay) Though I am not too familiar with SxS, I have cut with it but always been given a drive with media on it. In this case I assume from what I have read that you have to reboot for each card you insert. Any advice or thoughts most welcome! Thanks Brian |
Re: SxS reader question
Works fine, but there are no drivers for mac, so u need to reboot when u swap cards, but its fast 64gb cards in 15mis.

Re: SxS reader question
Cheers Robert,
Thanks for the info, I will order one today. Since the client will be shooting mostly sports and news items I don't suspect they will be using multiple cards often so the reboot should not be too much hassle. I have suggested they use the adapter and Class 10 SDHC cards for the cameras but I am not sure they will go that route. Brian |
