Solutions for Magic Bullet Rendering
 

Is there a secret to cutting down the rendering problems when working with Magic Bullet? I'm using Final Cut Pro Studio and have tried on G5 Dual's. Nothing seems to work for anything over 10 minutes. Even that takes about 37 years to render. Is building a render farm the only solution? I've really been impressed with the final output, but it's a bear to try and get it there.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!

1- I don't think MBE will work on a render farm, unless you have After Effects and the render farm license version of MBE.

MBE2 is supposedly a little faster, but that depends on your video card.

2- You can also try Nattress Film Effects. About a 5:1 rendering ratio with HD footage, XSERV RAID. It should be fast for SD.

$99 see nattress.com and get the free demo. It will likely look slightly different.

MBE 2 is A LOT faster. Over 3 times faster than MBE1. In fact, when I did a test with MBE 1 vs Nattress using the Bleach Bypass, Nattress took 8 min and MBE 1 took 22 min.

When the same render was performed with MBE 2, it took 7 min.

MB 2 for editors is super fast.... I have a 7800GT Nvidia card and it renders in near realtime... I can scrub the timeline and the render follows pretty perfectly.

The Mac platform is a different story according to the MBE2 website. The best ATI card delivers about 17fps @ SD resolution.

The render time will depend on which LookSuite features you are using. Black or White Diffusion are the real killers. The rest are pretty fast. If you can live without them, you'll speed it up considerably, perhaps twice as fast, but those are probably the coolest part of MB.
