How to you do audio transitions?
 

I know it's a dumb question, how does one do an audio transition (crossfade)? I select two subsequent audio tracks, go to effects, audio transitions and it's greyed out.... It's been so long, I've forgotten, someone please help!

I don't select the tracks themselves, I just click the mouse right where the two tracks meet; that highlights the border between the two, and then you hit "COMMAND-SHIFT-T" (at least, that's what I think the keystroke is; not sitting in front of final cut at the moment, so I can't verify). Either that, or you can go to 'transitions' in the menus.

You guys mean "clips", not "tracks", right?

You can just drag an audio transition from the effects pallette. However, you need to have enough "extra" audio (overlap) around the edit in both clips for the transition to work... perhaps that's why it's greyed out?

Ooo, that's right. Good point, you've got to have enough overlap to do the crossfade.


(And I don't know about Bruce, but I did mean to say 'clips' and not 'tracks').
