WMA being cut in half
 

I am cutting a project on a G5 with Avid express pro, and the supplied audio files are WMA files which were recorded on a little olympus digital recorder(the kind that say a journalist would use to record an interview)...

Every importing attempt that I have made has cut the files in half, and imported only the first half....I have tried importing into the Avid, into Final Cut, Compressor, Sorrenson Squeeze, iTunes...I am ou of ideas and can't seem to find any answers online.

If you are using an unregistered copy of the Flip for Mac plug-in, that's what you'll get. Only the first half of the file will be imported. If that's not your situation, then I don't have any idea off the top of my head. There is no native support for WMA/WMV so you have to have some application that will transcode it.

If your olympus recorder has a video out, simply pull that through some sort of deck/video card it's not the most elegant way to do it, but the loss of quality is pretty negligable compared to the compression, and it works quickly and pretty painlessly. I still use that method when I need to get something off of a dvd quickly.
