MBP 17" capture

Just new to Mac and just purchased a 17" MBP. When I capture HDV, my clips get seperated whenever I capture. There are no TC breaks or start stop. The longest clip I can capture is only about 2 min long. Doesn't seem make sense. I hope someone can shed some light on the situation. I am currently only using the on board hard drive. Would that be a problem?

Thank-you

Brian. That is normal for HDV in FCP. Anytime you stop and start the camera when shooting, you in effec t, create a new clip. Because HDV is GOP based instead of frame based, every time the camera stops and starts again, a new series of GOPS is created. This has nothing to do with the hard drive in your MacBook.
