Using DVD footage in Final Cut
I don't know if someone has already asked this, but is there an easy way to rip a dvd for use in finalcut pro? The DVD I need to rip is a live recording of a concert I had been asked to edit that was recorded directly onto DVD as well as tape in the cameras, and one of the shooter forgot to hit record and the only way I can get the footage is off the DVD. I have a Macbook Pro with Final Cut Pro 5.1. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I need to get this done with editing this weekend.

Download MPEG Streamclip. It's free and will do exactly what you need.

Thanks for the quick reply, but what is MPEG Streamclip and where do i get it?

Go to http://www.squared5.com. Basically it's an app that can open just about any video - so you would just oben the .vob files on your DVD - and then export to any other video format - you could then just export a Quicktime movie with the DV Codec or whatever your editing codec of choice may be. It's a great little app that every new FCP editor should pick up :)

Wow, thanks! I've been using FCP for like a year now and have never even heard of it until now!
