Use software update in system preferences. The improvements are listed as follows:


The 10.2.5 Update delivers enhanced functionality and improved reliability for the following applications, services and technologies: AirPort, Bluetooth, Classic compatibility, FireWire, Graphics, Image Capture, Mail, and OpenGL.

The update includes improvements to AFP, web services, dial-up connections over PPP, and Windows file services, as well as audio, disc recording, graphics, and printing improvements.

The update also provides updated security services and includes the latest security updates.

The 10.2.5 combo update is 81.9 MB

Ahhhh. This update helped me out quite a bit. Now I can mount CDs and even DMG images, wheras before they could not be made to mount. It was widely known that 10.2.4 was extremely buggy. Upgrade now!

Maybe my Mail app and Address Book will work again ?? They wont even open ever since I tried iSync :)

Just thought I would share my thoughts on updating OS X. I recently used Software Update on my dual 1.25 G4 to update to 10.2.4 and it didn't entirely finish. After a lot of rebooting with no full start-up, I had to reinstall the system software from my restore disks. I think it may be safer to update the system by first downloading the update from the Apple site (downloads) and then installing it that way, rather than by updating via software update.

You probably got a point, Don. That it is safer doing the upgrade like you suggest. I just wanted to tell you that the upgrade went just fine on my iMac.

There was a thread on one of the Mac forums (macfixit?, macworld?) talking about the problems with 10.2.4 and suggesting that many of the problems occurred when just the update was downloaded. They strongly recommended using the combo updater instead. I wonder if that holds for this revision as well?

I always recommend the combo update. It seems to cure some odd bugs that pop up from time to time. I have a link to it above. It huge, 81.9MB.

has this or the most recent update fixed the canon sync issue in FCP at all?

To the best of my knowledge, it has not. FCP 4 seems to be the fix. Apple has paid particular attention to certain sync issues and while it doesn't mention Canon specifically, it does mention fixing and maintaining sync.
