Final Cut Pro 2 on an eMac?
Ok, stop laughing. This is a serious question! Really!
Is it possible to run Final Cut Pro 2 on an eMac? I understand that Motion and Color won't run - but will Final Cut, DVD Studio Pro, Compressor, etc.? I've looked on the Apple site at the System Requirements, however they only have recommendations for the complete Final Cut Studio suite. The eMac is currently running FCS5.1 fine (DV/HDV). The only reason I am wanting to upgrade to FCS2 is so that I don't have to export XML files every time I use a different FCS2 system. Prefer not to upgrade the hardware if I don't absolutely have to. Apple spec say 'A Macintosh computer with a 1.25GHz or faster PowerPC G4, PowerPC G5, Intel Core Duo, or Intel Xeon processor'
The specs for FCP 5 were 'A Macintosh computer with a PowerPC G4 (500 MHz or faster) or G5 processor' What are you Emac Specs? if it's a 1.25 G4 your should be able to run most of the apps. James |
I finally got around to getting a copy of FCS2. Just wanted to report in and say that Final Cut Pro 6 DOES actually work on an eMac. It was a bit scary for a minute there - it didn't work straight away. Final Cut wouldn't even open after the initial installation! However, after updating to 6.0.1 it now works fine (after a warning screen saying that my computer doesn't meet any of the requirements, of which I simply click "continue"). Soundtrack Pro and Compressor also open as well. And yes, I really need to upgrade my hardware sometime soon! Money, money, money!
