Adobe Crashes With Flash
 

Recently Upgraded From PPro 1.5 to CS3 and attempted to render a short clip (about 30 seconds) into a Flash file. I have tried this in both Encore and from a Premiere project time line, using the Media Encoder.

Both methods shut down the programs. They are replaced by a two message boxes that I do not comprehend. One is a Red X box warnng of a Runtime Error, the other is a dos message with some gibberish about "OMP abort"

I called Adobe support and they didn't have a clue.

Any thoughts?

Two questions: Do you have Cineform installed and are you on Vista?

The same problem appeared after I installed a Cineform trial. Flash worked fine before the install, then died. Despite some detailed instructions from the Cineform folks, I don't think their software ever fully uninstalled. Tried uninstalling CS3 then reinstalling. No joy. Ultimately, I had to blow away the system and reinstall everything from the OS on up. All is fine now but I am very reticent about trying Cineform again. I do not believe that Cineform is ready for Vista yet.

I never contacted Adobe support since i couldn't play silly buggers looking for the cause. I just needed to get back running again.

I too ran into the encoder issue from Premier Pro to .flv. Don't remember the exact error message(s), but discovered Riva. It's a free .flv encoder which seems to always do the trick. While I've returned to Adobe Flash in their encoder on occasion I have discovered way too many times it fails to deliver. So, back to Riva. It's small, fast, and dependable.
