Better FLV - Squeeze or Flix Pro?
 

I'm going to be doing a lot of FLV videos soon... What's better to use for encoding FLV video, Sorenson Squeeze or On2 Flix Pro?

And why?

I have it and so far, I like it a lot. VERY versatile and easy to use. It also has a feature that I no other compressor has that I know if: the ability to add window burned timecode on the file.

Sorenson Squeeze is a compression suite; not a codec. On2 Flix Pro, on the other hand, uses the VP6 codec. Use the former for Quicktime and the latter for Flash.

Sorenson is a codec, while Squeeze is their app for compression.

Oh I see...I also have Vegas which encodes to quicktime. Is Sorenson Squeeze a better app to use for encoding that format? What about WMV?

If you have Vegas, you might as well use that for Quicktime to skip an intermediate step. I get great H.264 encodes with Vegas' Mainconcept plug-in.

What is the advantage of using one these encoders over using the native Flash video encoder? Or is this just for people who don't have the developers version of Flash?

Episode looks nice, but the $500/$1000 tag for Flash-enabled is steep unless you are getting some really nice quality improvement.

I have been very happy with the native Flash batch encoder so far.

Flash is one thing, Quicktime is another. If you get Flix Pro, you will be able to make Flash 8 (VP6.2) videos in VBR. Vegas can not do that. After Effects 7 can make Flash 8 videos, but not in VBR.
