Hi mark I am not going to argue with as you have the advantage of shooting more model flying than me but if you do not have a shoulder brace what would you advise especialy taking into cosideration that sometimes altitude flying can be a strain on your neck.

If you don't have a shoulder brace I would use a Monopod or the centre piece from a tripod. I wouldn't necessaraly use it on the ground, but instead have one hand holding it whilst the other is on the camera. This is what I did before I got the Media rig.

OK Mark never thought of using monopod I do have one and use it on weddings but never gave it athought for filming planes so I will give it a go next time thanks.

I've got to chime in.
I got a Manfrotto 701 RC2 head over the weekend. I shot a video of the helicopter that I'm posting a new thread on right now. The video is MUCH MUCH better on this head/tripod! I've tried both ways. It's much easier to shoot smooth on the 701/tripod. |
